LA SAUVAGE

YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME AT THE HEART OF FRIBOURG'S HISTORIC CENTER

In this recently renovated medieval building, the interior design is full of ingenuity and the emphasis is on openings to let the light in. The flats have all the equipment you need, so you don’t have to worry about it. To fully immerse yourself in the place, listen to the lapping of the Sarine River at your feet and hear the cobblestones of the Planche Supérieure, once pounded by the hooves of the cattle that were sold on this square.

IN THE CENTER OF THE OLD TOWN A FEW STEPS FROM THE HOTEL
LE SAUVAGE

On the banks of the Sarine, a few meters from Le Sauvage, La Sauvage welcomes you to Planche-Supérieur 22, 1700 Fribourg, Switzerland.

In the heart of the historic center, move around Fribourg, drink, eat and explore at your leisure. Are you enjoying the summer in Freiburg? Do not forget your swimming custom to dive in the Motta baths.

Getting around Fribourg is child’s play! A bus stop not far from your flat will take you to the city centre in 4 minutes. And if you want to try out an eco-friendly mode of transportation, take the Funicular which will take you from the Neuveville district to the rue St-Pierre, without emitting any exhaust fumes.

Did you know that Freiburg is built on a meandering river? At the foot of the hotel, the Sarine whispers to those who walk along its banks. Get closer to nature by strolling along the water trails and the botanical path and you will discover the other face of Fribourg, between lush forests, dramatic cliffs, and charming riverbanks.

Do you like a challenge? Then climb the 365 steps leading to the top of the Cathedral. From the top of this 74-metre high promontory, a breathtaking view awaits you. And if you want to relax after the climb, take a moment to admire the giant sculptures in the Espace Jean Tinguely – Niki de Saint-Phalle, the brainchild of this mythical couple, who were passionate about colour and movement.

BANSHEES’ LODGE PUB
Special mention for this alternative place nestled in the heart of a cobbled lane, in an old stone cellar that will transport you to the atmosphere of Irish pubs. Its wide range of craft beers and exceptional rum tastings will help you leave the mainland and immerse yourself in the soul of a buccaneer for an evening.

CAFÉ RESTAURANT BELVÉDÈRE
This is a space suspended between heaven and earth, both friendly and colourful. You can come and sip a drink on the terrace, which is attached to the cliff, while admiring the exceptional view, or curl up in one of the comfortable sofas. Along with cakes and Sunday brunch, the creative menu also offers vegan and gluten-free dishes.

LE SAUVAGE RESTAURANT
A heroic companion to La Sauvage, the restaurant Le Sauvage is a gastronomic stop of the highest order. In this place traditionally dedicated to travellers and
passing guests, a variety of mouth-watering dishes, available in both classic and vegetarian versions will satisfy small hunger pangs and wolf-like hungers.

RESTAURANT DU GOTHARD
This cheerful brasserie with a Belle Epoque atmosphere, located near the Cathedral, is owned by the Bourgeoisie of Fribourg, which takes great care of the city’s architectural heritage. Here you can taste Fribourg’s specialities, such as cheese fondues in all their variations, the traditional Bénichon menu, but also
delicious brewery dishes.

PINTE DES TROIS CANARDS
On your return from a walk in the Gottéron valley, take a break at the Pinte des 3 Canards. Its proximity tothe Pisciculture will allow you to  taste excellent trout
fillets as well as tasty meat dishes. Note that every last Thursday of the month, the traditional “boiled beef” is served at noon and that the dessert menu is enviable.

AUBERGE DE L’ANGE
Take a stroll through the old town, next to the wooden Bern Bridge, and get to know one of the oldest inns in Fribourg. Its terrace, suspended over the Sarine, is worth a visit. A place like no other, in total symbiosis with its environment.

Are you coming to Fribourg in the warm season? Don’t
forget your swimming costume to dive into the Motta
baths. Nestled at the foot of the cliffs, this swimming
pool that everyone loves is the darling of the inhabitants
of Fribourg, as many of them learned to swim there. In
addition to offering an impressive view of the old town,
its long row of blue cabins gives it a delicious perfume
of yesteryear.
